Shakira was honored Wednesday for her work as an advocate for children living in poverty. She received a medal from the United Nations labor agency in Geneva, Switzerland. Shakira, a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, met with members of the U.S. National Security Council and the Domestic Policy Council last month to discuss U.S. policy on early childhood development.
